In 1996, the former project director, Juan J. Alarcon, founded the golf tournament called “Esmeralda Charity Cup”. Together with Martin Holz, former club champion of GC Lucerne and now club president, he organized the first charity golf tournament to finance projects for street children in Colombia.
More than 25,000 children live on the streets of Colombia. They have left their homes because the food within their poor families is not enough for all of them. Some of them have been abused or suffer from the quarrelling, drug and alcohol use of family members.
